The Aldershot Horse Show is one of the largest in the South of England and last took place during the first May Bank Holiday (3rd, 4th and 5th May) weekend in 2008 at the much-improved Tweseldown Racecourse.
The historic Aldershot Horse Show, which gives aid to the Army Benevolent Fund, has its roots in the 19th Century when the cavalry used to race around the garrison. The event was lost to the Newbury Showground in 2004 because a suitable local venue could not be found. Previously, the hugely popular show had only been halted by the Second World War and appalling weather one year which made it unsafe.

The show, being staged over the weekend of 3/4/5 May is set to feature a host of well-known names in the International world of show jumping. Incorporating the Tweseldown Country Fair, the show will include a mix of military and civilian show jumping, showing classes, skill at arms plus trade stands, a fair and children's entertainment.
Show Organiser, Brynley Powell, himself a former rider and celebrated international trainer is delighted that the show is permantly being held at Tweseldown. He commented “Losing the show was a blow to the area, particularly the local horse-loving community. We are thrilled that with the improvements being made to Tweseldown Racecourse, we are able to stage the event and are looking forward to hosting an enjoyable weekend for local people and a superb show for all of the competitors.
